Thomas Jerald Knight, 81, of Emporia, Kansas, died on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Holiday Resort Care Center.
Thomas was born on September 2, 1931 in West Carrollton, Ohio, the son of Thomas Lincoln and Anna Lee Knight. He married Marilyn Johnson and later divorced. He then married Maxine Whitaker on June 11, 1984 in Denver, Colorado. She survives at the home.
Other family members include a son, Jeff Knight of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; two stepsons; daughter, Lynne Taylor of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; one stepdaughter; and two grandchildren.
Thomas was an accountant for Ernest & Ernest in Dayton, Ohio and a truck driver for Crete Carrier. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Alexandria, Pennsylvania, and a member Veterans of Foreign Wars. Thomas believed in the Catholic faith.
Cremation has taken place with no services at this time. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley.
