Todd Phillip Orear of rural Olpe died on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. He was 48.
Todd was born on December 28, 1977, in Emporia, the son of Phillip D. and Kathleen (Kathy) Trear Orear. He graduated from Olpe High School.
He is survived by his mother, Kathy Orear of Olpe; brother, Nicholas (Megan) Orear of Emporia; sister, Amber (Zach) Peak of Emporia; nieces and nephews, Payton Peters, Josie and Rowdy Orear, Colt, Case, Crue and Collins Heckathorn, and Hadley and Porter Peak. Step Grandfather Bob Finlay.
He is preceded in death by his father Phillip D. Orear, his grandparents John and Lucille Trear and J.D. Orear and Mary (Orear) Finlay.
Todd was a longtime horse breeder doing what he loved. He also worked at BPE, Inc for several years. He was a member of the Diddie Catholic Campus Center and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the Oklahoma Kansas Welsh Pony Society, and the Olpe Knights of Columbus.
Todd was a very loving individual who was more concerned about the needs of everyone around him. He had a deep passion for horses. He loved to talk about them constantly, listened to horse sales and horse events both live and on-line every chance he got.
The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2026, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe with the visitation following from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Parrish Life Center. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe with burial following at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe. Memorial contributions to the Olpe Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Fund for Special Olympics and Hetlinger can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
