Tom Wilson, 66, of Emporia, Kansas, died on October 26, 2011 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
Tom was born on August 25, 1945 in Widen, West Virginia, the son of Daniel Thomas and Maycil Hunt Wilson. He married Linda S. Mercer on February 2, 1974 at First Friends Church in Emporia. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: mother, Maycil Wilson of Atwater, Ohio; son, Lee Thomas Wilson of Topeka; daughter, Dawn M. Wilson of Topeka; grandchildren, Zoe Hutchison, and Chloe Wilson both of Topeka; brothers, Roy Wilson, and Bob Wilson both of Deerfield, Ohio; sister, Patricia Hambrick of Baltimore, Maryland.
He is preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Bill Wilson.
Tom worked in sanitation for Interstate Brands in Emporia for 12 years. He then worked as a transport officer for Security Transport Services in Topeka for six years before retiring. Tom served in the United States Army, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Emporia, and was active years ago in the Twin Rivers Bass Club of Emporia.
Cremation has taken place, with the memorial service to be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 31, 2011 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Deacon Thomas Woodruff of Highland Crest Community Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Topeka will officiate. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
The visitation will be on Sunday evening, October 30, 2011 at the funeral home from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Military honors will be conducted by Pastor Lee Hoskins of the Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion in Emporia.
