On December 7, 2016, Tommy Lynn Sorrells left his cancerous body behind and traded it for a new Heavenly body. As he celebrates his arrival in Paridise, we remember his life here on earth.
Tommy was born in Reading, PA, November 30, 1953. His parents were Herman and Dolores (Jernigan) Sorrells. He is survived by his sisters Marcella Brenda Trimble (Darrell ), Sydney Sorrells, and his brother, Rodger Sorrells. He has 2 half brothers, Jonie Blanton and Eddie Blanton and 2 half sisters, Rita and Barbara Blanton. Tommy married the love of his life, Rebecca, on May 5, 1995. He had one step-daughter, Christina Forshee (Ty) and granddaughter, Lily Forshee. He was preceded in death by his only son, Wesley Lynn Sorrells.
Tommy graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1971 and joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 4 years as an Aircraft Mainenance Specialist/Mechanic, with the rank of Sgt.
Tommy's career included several construction jobs with his career ending while working for Greater Austin Developement.
He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, bbqing, working on his trucks and motorcycles and preparing his most sought after recipes for his Banana Pudding and Cherry Mashes!
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Beck Funeral Home,1700 East Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park, Texas 78613.
The Graveside services will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 20, 2016, located about two and one-half miles south of Emporia, Kansas, on the east side of Highway 99, south of Road 140.
Memorial contributions can be made to the New Voices Club of Austin, 2300 Barton Creek Blvd, Austin, TX 78735, which is a Laryngectomy support group that Tommy belonged to where he formed many friendships and gave support to other cancer survivors.
