Trevor Luther Rees

Trevor Luther Rees, 93, of rural Emporia passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia.

Trevor was born May 16, 1924 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of David Luther and Katherine Edwards Rees. He married Darlene Lou Shellenberger on June 13, 1954 in Council Grove, Kansas.

Surviving family members include: wife, Darlene Rees, Emporia; daughter, Bronwen (Charles) Kleissler of Hugo, Minnesota; son, Brian (Dixie) Rees of Olpe; sister, Evelyn Jane Rees of Cottonwood Falls; grandchildren, Morgan Kleissler, Dylan Kleissler, and Kate Rees.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Emlyn W. Rees, and Everett J. Rees; and sister, Dorothy Spade.

Trevor was a farmer and cattleman in the Lyon county area. He was a member of the Sardis Congregational Church.

Cremation is planned with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery south of Emporia. Memorial contributions to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Kansas Masonic Foundation Cancer Research can be sent in care of the funeral home.
