Verna L. Gieber, Emporia, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Stormont-Vail Medical Center, Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 79.
Verna Lucille Worley was born October 9, 1936 in Emporia, the daughter of Perry and Vivian (Marsh) Worley, She married LeRoy A. Gieber October 17, 1956 at Emporia. LeRoy died November 5, 2000.
Surviving family members include her three sons, John D. Gieber, Andy Gieber, and Kenneth B. Gieber, all of Emporia; sister, Linda K. Lund, Fayetteville, Georgia; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Mrs. Gieber was a homemaker.
Cremation is planned.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia, conducted by Father Brandon Farrar, Celebrant. Private family inurnment will occur at a later date.
The Rosary will be recited at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Tuesday evening, May 3, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. The family will receive friends following the Rosary.
