Veta M. Reece, 88, of Emporia died Friday, June 21, 2013 at Holiday Resort Care Center. Cremation is planned.
Veta Maude Cowperthwaite, the daughter of Norma R. and Dovie Pendleton Cowperthwaite, was born July 29, 1924 in Silver Lake, Kansas. She married Marvin L. Reece in Topeka on September 18, 1946. He survives of the home.
Veta is also survived by a son and his wife, Robert E. and Marie Reece of Council Grove, Kansas; a daughter and her husband, Connie Jo and Lynn Hohne of Shawnee, Kansas; five granddaughters; and nine great-grandchildren.
Veta worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles for 12 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the First Christian Church; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; The Stephen Ministry, and was a deacon of her church in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at First Christian Church, with Pastor Bob Colerick officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Prayer at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
