Vicky Lynn Allen, 65, of Emporia, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at her home.
Vicky was born September 10, 1948 in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and June (Boner) Meyer. In 1967, she was crowned Miss Grant County. She attended and graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelors Degree of Arts in Music Education, after which she taught music in schools and also through private vocal and piano lessons.
She retired from Social and Rehabilitation Services as an administrative specialist and team member of the "Choosing Our Direction" project for creating five online courses for training all SRS (now DCF) employees. She also recently retired as the choir director of the First Christian Church. Vicky was a member of the First Christian Church in Emporia and member and past president of the Friends of the City Band in Emporia.
Vicky married Don Allen in Ulysses, Kansas on August 15, 1970. She is survived by Don and their two daughters, Morgan Allen of Emporia, Reagan Kamran of Olathe, Kansas, and granddaughter, Lilah Kamran.
Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at First Christian Church in Emporia. Pastor Bob Colerick will be officiating. Inurnment will take place later in Ulysses, Kansas.
