Videl Vargas-Saldana of Emporia, died on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City. He was 71.
Videl was born in El Pilar, Michoacan, Mexico on July 30, 1954, the son of Heleodoro Vargas Pantoja and Amalia Saldana Andrade. He married Ofelia Tapia Renteria on February 27, 1978, in Santa Clara Puruandiro.
Surviving family members include his wife, Ofelia Tapia de Vargas of Emporia; son, Jose (Cristina Aranda) Vargas Tapia of Emporia; daughters, Ruvi (Juvenal) Ruiz, Rocio (Javier) Lara and Sindia (Jesus Saldana) Vargas Tapia all of Emporia; grandchildren, Reina Lara, Jovany Ruiz, Jose Angel Vargas, Juliana Lara, Kimberly Lara, Eduardo Vargas, Priscilla Ruiz, Mateo Saldana, Nelson Lara, Nicholas Saldana, and Sofia Saldana; brothers, Jose Luis Vargas-Saldana, Leonel Vargas-Saldana, Rogelio Vargas-Saldana, Guadalupe Vargas-Saldana; sisters, Maria Vargas-Saldana, Angelica Vargas-Saldana, and Leticia Vargas-Saldana.
He is preceded in death by his parents Heleodoro Vargas Pantoja and Amalia Saldana Andrade, granddaughter Esmeralda Ruiz, and brothers Julio Vargas-Saldana and Moises Vargas Saldana.
Videl worked with Tyson in Processing for many years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and family.
The rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia with the visitation following until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., February 6, 2026, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Emporia with burial following at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
