Vina May Walkup, 88, of Emporia, Kansas died on December 11, 2011 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
Vina May Brown was born in Neosho Rapids, Kansas on May 19, 1923, the daughter of Frederick Samuel and Kathleen Hall Brown. She married Fred Rockford Walkup, Jr. on March 7, 1942 in Emporia. He died on August 27, 1993 in Emporia.
Survivors include: daughter, Nancy Walkup Donelson of Americus, Kansas; grandchildren, Franz Rockford Donelson of Emporia, and Rachel Roxanne Nichols and husband Shane, of Richmond, Missouri; and great-grandchildren, Noah Ethan Nichols and Nathan Shane Nichols of Richmond, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and four sisters.
Vina was a bookkeeper for many years. She was the credit manager for Newman Department Store, and the office manager for Dr. Richard Bennett and for Walt Schultz Appliance Store. She was a member of Business Professional Women, and loved to dance.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Patio Garden of Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Jon Cox of Countryside Baptist Church in Americus. Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
