Virgil William Brown, 72, of Olpe, Kansas, died on Monday, January 20, 2014 at his home.

Virgil was born on July 2, 1941 in Olpe, the son of George Matthew and Mary Catherine Schneider Brown. He married Nancy Pendleton on June 8, 1963 in Emporia, Kansas, and later divorced.

Surviving family members include: his brothers, Marvin N. Brown of Emporia, David L. Brown of Quinlan, Texas, and George M. Brown of Redmond, Washington; a brother-in-law, Alvin D. Hailey of Elmdale, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, George Joseph Brown; and a sister, Georgia M. Brown Hailey.

Virgil was a Union Machine Operator for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 304, Topeka, Kansas. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe.

Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 14, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening, February 13, 2014 at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe.
