Virgil Eldon Gaines

Virgil Eldon Gaines, 83, of Emporia died on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia.

Virgil was born on October 20, 1934 in Marion County, Kansas the son of Arnold and Genevieve Ballard Gaines.

Surviving family members include: sisters, Donna McCloud of Anchorage, Alaska, and Sandra Stutesman of Burlington, Kanas; many cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wilma D. Phillips, Lois Cox; brothers, Jackie Gaines, Arnold Gaines, Neddy Gaines, and Larry Gaines.

Virgil attended the Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe, Kansas. He worked odd jobs in the Emporia area with many would know him for his transportation around south Emporia with his three wheeled Schwinn bicycle.
