Virginia Lea Fields

Virginia Lea (Fox) Fields passed away in Topeka on Friday, July 9 ^th , 2021 at University of Kansas Hospital St Francis Campus in Topeka, surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old.

Virginia was born on March 2 ^nd , 1940 in Harper, KS to Harold U. & Lily May (Trollope) Fox. She was the seventh out of eight children.

She married Donald K. Fields on January 3 ^rd , 1964 in Texas.  They were later divorced in 1983.  Virginia spent most of her adult life in Great Bend, KS before moving to Emporia, where she spent the last 12 years.

She is survived by her three sons: Steven (Rick) Scott of Ridgefield, CT, Bryan (Kathleen) Fields of Overland Park, KS,  Michael (Tera) Fields of Olathe, KS and daughter Jennifer (Brad) Stewart of Emporia KS, Grandchildren: Shari Weber of Merriam, KS; Noah & Lily Scott of Ridgefield, CT; Landen & Ashley Fields of Olathe, KS; Spencer, Skyler, and Sheldon Stewart of Emporia, KS;  great-grandchildren: Blake Helton and Anthony Weber of Merriam, KS,  sisters: Naomi Fenton of Harper, KS and Carolyn (Bob) Hunzicker of Lenexa, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold Fox, W.J. Fox; sisters, Bessie Berberich, Mary Jean Johnson, and Edna Mae Barnes; and Great-Granddaughter, Brittani Thornton.

The light of her life was her grandkids. They, and all their friends, will always know her as Grandma Jenny.   She loved fishing and watching sports.  She could sit by a lake for hours waiting on the catfish to bite!  She loved to follow the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and KU Jayhawks….and whatever team her grandkids were playing on!
