Virginia Marie Mouse Haasis

Virginia Marie Mouse Haasis, 92 years of age, passed away on the afternoon of December 28, 2011 in Emporia, Kansas.

She was born to Snowden Scott Mouse and Alice Prentice Mouse in LaCygne, Kansas on September 18, 1919. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers. An infant brother died at birth in LaCygne, Kansas in 1918 and her younger brother, Scott Austin Mouse died in 2010.

She is survived by her nieces, Melinda Mouse Whetzel of Emporia, Marcia Mouse Looper of Emporia, and Merryl Mouse McRae of Iola, Kansas.

Virginia (Ginny) lived in Emporia for most of her life. For over fifty years, she had resided in the home that her parents built on Mouse Lake. Early in life, she became an accomplished commercial pilot. She regularly flew pipeline patrol in Oklahoma and Kansas. During WWII she served as a primary flight instructor for military pilots preparing for war. After the war, she worked in many business offices in Emporia. She worked for some time with her father and brother in their real estate business. She also managed a travel agency and worked as an abstractor for Moon Abstract.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Emporia. Pastor Margaret Gunselman will officiate.
