Walter Edward Johnson, 77, of Emporia, Kansas, died Thursday, August 06, 2015 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Walter was born February 9, 1938 in Beloit, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Genevieve Johnson. Walter married Karen Martin and they later divorced. He then married Melissa Bell Klinger. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: daughters, Bev Johnson, Marsha Johnson, and Christine Johnson, all of Arkansas; son, David Squires of Arkansas; stepson, George Lawrence Wells of Emporia; stepdaughter, Kathy Libertus of Emporia; brother, Robert Johnson of Wisconsin; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Johnson; and stepsons, Gary Klinger, Bill Wells, Jim Wells, and Fred Wells.
Walter worked for Broadmoor Mobile Homes, Bowers Electric, and later Emporia Glass, until his retirement when Emporia Glass closed. He was a member of the Salvation Army and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and Clint Eastwood movies.
The graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, August 10, 2015 at Cottonwood Cemetery in Emporia. Lt. Lynn Lopez of the Salvation Army will be officiating. Interment will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
