Wanda Love Edwards Talkington, 89, Emporia, Kansas, died Sunday morning, February 9, 2014 at Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia.
Wanda Love was born in Emporia, on June 18, 1924, the daughter of Earl and Marie (Smith) Love. She married Laurance E. Edwards at Hartford, Kansas on February 19, 1944. He died April 11, 1971. She later married Merton Talkington on June 17, 1972. He died May 1, 2005.
Surviving family members include: her daughter, Peggy Downard, Burlington, Kansas; sons, Larry E. Edwards, Hartford, Kansas and Eugene O. Edwards in Arizona; sister, Opal Sager, Emporia; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Bessie Love; son, Robert Edwards; and sister, Lila Gerleman.
Wanda was a Licensed Practical Nurse, having graduated from the Flint Hills Technical College Nursing Program. She worked at the Chase County Manor in Cottonwood Falls, and also Emporia Nursing Home, Emporia.
Funeral services will be at Hartford United Methodist Church, Hartford, Kansas, on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., conducted by Pastors Gene Huston and Lee Hoskins. Interment will follow in Hartford Cemetery, Hartford.
