Warren Allen Traner

Warren Allen Traner, Emporia, Kansas, died at home on January 9, 2024. He was 89 years old.

Warren was born on May 1, 1934, in Council Grove, Kansas, the son of Elmer Allen and Hetty (Cress) Traner.

After high school, Warren attended the College of Emporia, where he played football.

Warren married Peggy Ann Hayes in Olpe, Kansas on April 7, 1956. They were married for 67 years before she passed on November 17, 2023.

Survivors include sons David Warren Traner, Emporia, KS; Lawrence Allen (Charlotte) Traner, St. Charles, MO; Joseph Lynn (Suzanne) Traner, Valley Center, CA; daughters Lisa (Keith) Gunnett, St. Peters, MO; Karen (Gary Lee) Gurley, Wichita, KS; sister LoReta Maureen Davis, St. Charles, MO; grandchildren Amelia Diane (Traner) Wiren, Glenn Allen Traner, Courtney Elaine (Gunnett) Bennett, Tanner William Gunnett, Allen Mark Jarod Traner, Elizabeth (Beth) Diane Traner, Corbin Michael Traner, Kadijah Pointer, Aaron and Alex Gurley and Travis Gilpin; and great-grandchildren Tasneem, Kai, Wesley, Madison, Grayson, Tessa, Emma, Nevaeh, Kaylynn and Adrian.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Hetty (Cress) Traner, wife Peggy, grandparents, brother Thomas Eugene Traner, and son Mark William Traner.

Warren worked at Didde Manufacturing as a check out press mechanic for 40 years. In his younger years, Warren was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was also one of the first hunter’s safety instructors in Kansas, which he taught for about 30 years. Warren was an avid hunter, fisherman and conservationist.

Cremation is planned, with a memorial service at a later date. Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
