Warren Edward Voorhees, Sr., 77, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home in Reading, Kansas.
Warren was born July 13, 1939 near Yates Center, Kansas, the son of Raymond Grant and Esther Loretta (Dixon) Voorhees. He worked 27 years as a sheet metal worker at Didde Manufacturing in Emporia. Warren had been retired for 15 years. He was a member of the Reading United Methodist Church, Reading Lions Club, Reading Community Development, American Legion, Kansas National Guard Association, 6 years United States Navy, 14 years Kansas National Guard, Army Color Guard, Flint Hills Craft Association and the Lucky 13 and Lyonettes Camping Clubs.
Warren married Rosalie May Stephens on July 28, 1963 in Selma, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include: sons, Warren E. Voorhees, Jr. and wife Michele of Columbus, Nebraska, Raymond Jarrod Voorhees and wife Jessica of Missoula, Montana; daughter, Rebecca Resa of Emporia; brothers, John Voorhees of Reading, and George Voorhees of Colony, Kansas; sister, Flora Fielder of Longton, Kansas; grandchildren, Jessica Cruz and husband Never, Kyle Voorhees and wife Megan, Brandon Voorhees and wife Mariah, Amber Campbell, Ashley Campbell, Bryanna Hammons, Brandon Hammons, Nick Bakken, Wyatt Bakken, Cody Outler, Shelby Holmes, Garett Holmes, and Aryssa Schnell; and great-grandchildren, Zyler Schnell, Nevaeh Cruz, Luiz Cruz, Sofia Cruz, Jarrod Voorhees, Lilliana Voorhees, and Liam Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Loretta Esther Voorhees; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Voorhees.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Reading, Kansas. Pastor Nancy Brown of the Church will be officiating. Interment will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Fort Riley, Kansas. U.S. Army will provide Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia, Kansas.
