Wayne E. Purkeypyle of Madison died on Friday, November 22, 2019 at his home in Madison. He was 71.
Wayne was born April 3, 1948 on the Hamilton Air Force base in Hamilton City, California the son of Arthur Eugene and Betty Hostetler Purkeypyle. He married Judy C. Moody on May 29, 2001 in Wichita, Kansas. She survives.
Surviving family members include: wife, Judy C. Purkeypyle of Madison, Kansas; sons, Shwan Purkeypyle of Price, Utah, and Jeremy Purkeypyle of Herrington, Kansas; daughter, Jessica Purkeypyle of Italy; step-sons, Darrell Moody, Charles Clawson, Sheldon Davis and Stacy Davis; step-daughter Wendy Longberry; grandchildren, Adrianna Purkeypyle, Cheyenne Purkeypyle, Hunter Purkeypyle, Star Purkeypyle, Sky Purkeypyle, Candice Colette, and Zach Weixilman; eighteen step-grandchildren; great-granddaughter Natalie Colette.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Glen Purkeypyle.
Wayne first served in the United States Navy for 4 years before getting out and reenlisting in the United States Army where he retired. During those years he served two tours during the Vietnam War where he received a silver and bronze star.
Cremation is planned with a private memorial service in the spring will be at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Riley, Manhattan, Kansas.
