Wilbert M. Hinrichs, 97, Olpe, passed away at the Flint Hills Manor Care Center Wednesday evening, January 3, 2018.
Wilbert Martin Hinrichs was born on a farm southwest of Olpe, Kansas on September 29, 1920, the son of Martin G. and Lena (Pohl) Hinrichs. Wilbert married Louise (Kuhn) Sylvester at Canton, Kansas on June 4, 1961. She survives. Together with Louise, surviving family members include his daughter, Stephanie (Roger) Sinclair, Hillsboro, KS, Son; Steve (Lisa) Sylvester, Saint Louis, MO, grandchildren; Leah (Daman Delaney) Sylvester, Naomi (Robert) Wuest, Ariel (Nick McKnight) Sylvester, Lucas (Amanda) Sinclair, Juliana Sinclair, Cara (Zach) Jacobson, Kyle Sinclair, Jaime Sinclair, Jordan (Adam) Michaelson, and 7 Great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Martin Hinrichs, Warren Hinrichs, Ella Vogts, and Josephine Vogts.
Wilbert and Louise were long time active members of Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia. He was a lifetime farmer until retiring in 2000.
Funeral services will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia, on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 10:30 A.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier of the church. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, west of Olpe.
The family will receive friends at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 5:00.
