Willene Charlotte Cole, 88 of Emporia, Kansas died Monday, December 10, 2018 at her home.
Willene was born February 9, 1930 in Oneida, KS, the daughter of William and Anna Marie (Keck) Ackerman. Dedicated to the education of children, Willene began teaching at the age of 17 and received her Master’s in Education from Emporia State University. She retired as a special education teacher in Attica, KS in 1997. She enjoyed playing cards, board games and bingo. Willene spent many years volunteering with Hand in Hand Hospice. She was a chapter member of the Eastern Star for 50 years.
Willene married John E. Faylor in 1951 at Sabetha, KS. He preceded her in death while living in Burlingame, KS in 1973. Willene later married Charles Cole of Burlingame, KS in 1975. He preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by her daughters Kandee Fillmore of Tucson, AZ, Sadie Seaton of Emporia,KS and Pennie Hufford of Glenns Ferry, ID, grandchildren Russell Britschge, RaeAnna Judd, Amber Fillmore, Jackson Seaton, Matthew Rhoads, Levi Seaton, Emily Rhoads, C.J. Hufford and 6 great-grandchildren. Willene was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and sisters Helen Maple, and Arlene Seaman.
Cremation is planned. A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 2pm at First Christian Church in Madison, KS officiated by Pastor Bob Robison. Inurnment will be in the Burlingame Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Public Library and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
