William Kenneth “Kenny” Timbrook, 86, Emporia, Kansas, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at the emergency department, Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
William Kenneth Timbrook was born at Emporia, on December 17, 1926, the son of William Robert and M. Alice (McCluskey) Timbrook. He married Elfrieda M. Borell at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church in Emporia on December 25, 1947. She survives.
Surviving family members include: his wife; daughters, Carolyn Meierhoff, and her husband, David, Emporia, and Kathi Noe, and her husband, Wes, Wetmore, Kansas; grandchildren, Susan K. Meierhoff, Lisa L. Meierhoff, Laurie A. (Meierhoff) Kurzen and husband, Chad, Jay Smith and wife, Kay, Benjamin Smith, Andrea (Noe) Lagos and husband, Ronald, Analyssa Noe, Amelia Noe, and Alayna Noe; great-grandchildren, Justin Wilson, Kinzie Kurzen, and Jaiden Kurzen; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Kansas City area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leslie Wayne Timbrook, and infant twin brothers.
He was a member of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, Ball-McColm Post 5, American Legion, Lowry-Funston Post #1980, VFW, the Bluestem Swingers Dance Club, and various bowling teams. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Kenny was retired from Guys Potato Chip Company, and he had also worked at Rainbow Baking Company, Town Royal, and the Cannon Grocery Store, all in Emporia.
Funeral services will be at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 2:00 P.M., conducted by Rev. Bob Colerick, First Christian Church, Emporia. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, with military graveside honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, June 13, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M.
The family requests no flowers. A memorial has been established with Emporia Friends of the Zoo. Contributions may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
