William Lawrence "Bill" Estes, 67 of Emporia, Kansas died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
William Lawrence Estes the son of Lawrence William & Birdelia (Barber) Estes was born July 27, 1943 at Junction City, Kansas. Bill married Mary Clopton and had two sons, Bryon Estes and Joe Estes both of Emporia, Kansas. Bill and Mary later divorced and he married Susan Facklam and they later divorced. Bill married Wendy Schneider and they later divorced.
Bill farmed in the Emporia area and also held various positions for 36 years with the Braum's Ice Cream Company in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. He retired in 2009 as the cattle manager for Braum's Follett, Texas ranch, and recently returned to Emporia, Kansas. Bill greatly enjoyed camping and spending time with his grandchildren at the Council Grove Reservoir in Council Grove, Kansas.
Bill is survived by: his sons; brothers, Larry Estes of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Leroy Wayman of Wilsey, Kansas; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Estes.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Interment will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery. Pastor Joe Tuttle of the Bethel Baptist Church in Emporia will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.
