William Patrick “Pat” Mays, 66, of Emporia died on Thursday, February 25, 2016 in Emporia.
Pat was born on June 19, 1949 in El Dorado, Kansas the son of Samuel W. and Marcine McGouldrick Mays.
Surviving family members include: a daughter, Melissa Ogleby and husband Justin of Emporia; brother, Michael Mays and wife Novia of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Aiden and Keira Ogleby; sister-in-law, Cammy Mays of Salina, Kansas; five nephews, Michael Mays, Edmond, OK, Trevor Mays, Edmond, OK, Tyler Mays, The Village, OK, Samual Mays III, Sperry, OK, and Patrick Mays, Angola, Africa; ex-wife Judy Miller of St. John, KS; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Samuel W. Mays, Jr., and Mark Mays.
Pat owned and operated the bait shop in Emporia. Before that he was an insulator and worked in the oil field. He was instrumental in starting the Narcotics Anonymous group in Emporia.
Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Life at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 627 Commercial. A memorial has been established to the Beau Arndt Foundation in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
