William "Bill" Ray Haag

William “Bill” Ray Haag, 68, of Emporia, Kansas, died Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

Bill was born August 14, 1945 in Emporia, the son of Nicholas and Evelyn Schultz Haag. He was raised on a farm outside of Olpe, Kansas, and attended Olpe High School, where he played baseball and football and graduated from there in 1963. He moved to Topeka and attended Washburn University before becoming an assistant manager for Falley’s grocery stores. In 1969 he began a 30 plus year career in management of new car dealerships in Topeka, Lawrence, Emporia, Osage City, and Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In 1968 he married Janice Sims and divorced in 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Evelyn Haag; and a brother, Dennis Haag.

Survivors include: his sons, Todd (Jennifer) Haag and Terry (Christina) Haag of Topeka; daughter, Tracie (Denver) Holcomb of Rossville, Kansas; two brothers, Jerry (Sylvia) Haag of Olpe and Robert (Delores) Haag of Topeka; two sisters, Deaun Wilson of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas and Lavern (Bill) Howell of Irving Texas; grandchildren, Miles, Tanner, Ashley, Kelsey, Elle, Masyn and Robert; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 10:00 in the morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 306 Iowa St. in Olpe, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M., prior to the service.
