William Eugene Wilmore, 90, of Emporia, Kansas, died on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
Bill was born on December 17, 1922 in Emporia, the son of Glenn Lawrence and Grace Owen Wilmore. He married Glennis Marie Foster on May 26, 1943. She died on November 28, 2007 in Wichita, Kansas.
Surviving family members include: two sons, Ron Wilmore of Gold River, California, and Don Wilmore of Branson, Missouri; daughter, Janet Rees of Emporia; three grandchildren, Brittany Rees and Andrew Rees, both of Emporia, and Eve Jones of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Carl George Wilmore.
Bill worked 42 years for the Santa Fe Railroad as a signal maintainer. He was a member of the Emporia Presbyterian Church, and served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
A private graveside service will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The family requests to receive no flowers, but instead suggests memorial contributions to Emporia Friends of the Zoo.
