Wilma Lou Dorsey, 60, Emporia, Kansas, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Saint Francis Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.


Wilma Lou was born in Emporia on September 6, 1953, the daughter of William James and Mary Lou (Rogers) Dorsey. She had married Robert L. Evans, and later, Samuel J. Gardenhire, and was divorced from both.


Surviving family members include: her mother, Mary Lou McClain, Emporia; son, Jamaal William Dorsey, Iola, Kansas; daughters, Mignon Yvette Dorsey and Magan Izette Dorsey, both of Emporia; brother, Larry Dorsey, Emporia; sisters, Annalisa Evans, Detroit, Michigan, and Greta Mae Morris, Emporia; and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Fluffy.


She was a member of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, Emporia, and was a graduate of Emporia High School. Wilma had worked as a CNA at several Emporia area care centers as well as Newman Regional Health.


Wilma enjoyed watching her grandchildren. She was a kindhearted person with a great spirit.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Michael Moore of the church. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Emporia, Kansas.


The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Monday evening, May 26, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
