Wonnia Mae Williams, 69, of Emporia, died on February 1, 2011 at her home.

Wonnia Mae Shields was born on December 6, 1941 in Cruger, Mississippi, the daughter of William and Olivia (Randle) Shields. She married Isaac Williams, Jr. in 1963 in Chicago, Illinois. He died on October 11, 1993 in Chicago, Illinois.

Surviving family members include: sons, Larry Williams, Earl Williams, and Waldell Williams, all of Emporia, and Isaac Williams III of Olathe, Kansas; daughter, Jennifer Williams of Chicago, Illinois; brothers, William Shields, Jr. of Greenwood, Mississippi, and Woodrow Shields of Cleveland, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, and a brother Roosevelt Shields.

Wonnia worked on the production line for twenty-five years at the Tootsie Roll Industries in Chicago Illinois. When she moved to Emporia, she was a greeter at Walmart for several years. She was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Emporia. She was also a mother of St. James Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 11, 2011 at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Emporia with Pastor Michael Moore of the church officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. Visitation will be from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
